20 passengers on a bus taken hostage

A Sans Souci bus have been kidnapped last Friday in Croixdes-Bouquets, the driver was released the next day, however the 20 passengers are being held hostage, informs Sans Souci Tours.

Course: Boarding Officer

On Friday, February 4, 23 Haitian Coast Guard members successfully completed the exportable two-week Boarding Officer Course provided by the United States Coast Guard (USCG). A representative of the Haitian National Police (HNP) Director General, the Haitian Coast Guard Commandant, and representatives from the HNP Academy attended the graduation. U.S. Embassy Department of Defense and Coast Guard officials attended as well. Our key partners’ successful completion of the course symbolizes yet another joint success between Haiti and the United States. This course is the first of many provided by USCG Mobile Training Teams (USCG-MTT) that are scheduled for 2022.

Arrest of 2 people and seizure of a kg of marijuana

A joint operation carried out by the police of Les Cayes, the Departmental Unit for the Maintenance of Order (UDMO) and the Parquet aux Coteaux, particularly in the localities of Dejoie, 2nd section of Chardonieres and Port-à-Piment led to the arrest by Alcène Inel and Chester Saint-Cyr. 981 grams of marijuana were seized. Note that Chester Saint-Cyr was actively wanted for the theft of a service weapon from a policewoman in the West department.

3.2% of Haitian children do not reach the age of one month

The latest report from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) published in early February 2022, reveals that in Haiti 3.2% of children do not reach the age of one month, i.e. the highest neonatal mortality rate in the region.

51 young people for psychosocial support to 1,550 children

51 young volunteers from La Saline area were trained in psychosocial support. Under the leadership of the Directorate of Civil Protection, these young people will carry out psychosocial activities in La Saline and at the bottom of the city center for 1,550 children.
