Haiti - Economy : Nearly $500 million in customs revenue...

Jean-Jacques Valentin, the Director General of the General Administration of Customs, has announced this week, that the customs revenues, for the last 10 months (October 2010 - July 2011) are up, to 19 billion gourdes (1 USD = ± 40 gourdes). Tax revenues reaching just over 85% of the 22 billion gourds provided by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, to the State budget for the current year. Jean-Jacques Valentin, was visibly satisfied with the results, and he wished to clarify that for the first two weeks of August, his institution had already collected one billion gourds additional.
