This Thursday, July 28, 2022, 135 Haitians are expected at Toussaint Louverture International Airport on board a special flight from Turkey.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this is a voluntary repatriation.

After spending thousands of dollars to go to Turkey hoping to find a better life there, a year later after a failure of integration and a series of disappointments, at the end of their financial resources, while their dream of El Dorado is transformed in a nightmare, 135 Haitians sought the help of the Haitian Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to return to Haiti, unable to afford the plane ticket.

The Chancellery stresses that this operation was made possible thanks to the steps of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) with the support of the diplomatic missions of Haiti.

The Ministry affirms that "all the arrangements have already been made to welcome these compatriots with dignity upon their arrival in the country."
