Haiti - NOTICE : Literary criticism competition

In order to promote the practice of literary criticism, the Ministry of Culture is organizing a major criticism competition for young Haitians aged 17 to 25.

Terms and Conditions:

- Be of Haitian Nationality

- Be between 17 and 25 years old.

- Choose one of the works among:

« Jòf » by Georges Castera,

« L'odeur du café » by Dany Laferrière,

« Men Mwn kont ak chante koralen » by Jean-Claude Martineau,

« Gouverneur de la rosée » by Jacques Roumain,

« Pèlen Tèt » by Franketienne,

« Tifi » by Saïka Ceus,

« Saison sauvages » by Kettly Mars,

« Hadriana dans tous mes rêves » by René Dépestre,

« Milwaukee Blues » by Louis Philippe Dalembert,

« La récole douce des larmes » by Edwinge Danticat.

- Write a review between 300 to 1,000 words in French or Creole.

- Submit the review before September 5, 2022.

The results will be published on the Ministry's Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Competition procedure:

Stage 1:

Reception of texts from August 5 to September 5, 2022 and selection of the best reviews;

Stage 2:

Successful candidates will have to defend their criticisms in front of a jury (online);

Stage 3:

Publication of the final results and award ceremony by the Ministry of Culture.

From August 5 to September 5, 2022 submit your literary reviewsin Word ou PDF format to the email address : info@culture.gouv.ht

N.B: Please indicate your full name, your contact details (address, email, telephone), your city, your department and the book chosen on the cover page of your text.

The best texts will be published in the 3 media partners of this competition (Le Nouvelliste, Le National and Juno7). Other rewards will also be given to the winners.
