Haiti and the Dominican Republic participated in Paris alongside more than 200 exhibitors at the Salon international du Chocolat 2022, the largest event dedicated to the chocolate industry.

For Haiti, participated "AYITIKA SA" producers of cocoa and chocolate, and the Federation of Cooperatives of Cocoa Producers of the North (FECCANO), a federation of 8 cooperatives producing cocoa in the North of Haiti.

The Dominican Republic was represented by Chocolala SRL, a cooperative of women cocoa and chocolate producers in Puerto Plata; the CONACADO group, one of the largest cocoa producers and processors in the country; ProAgro, a medium-sized company that expands in international markets with its production of chocolate powder and its "La Criollita" brand and Global Resources, a family business known for its "CacaoMae" brand that manufactures chocolate and other cocoa products.

These six companies are part of the Binational Cocoa/Chocolate Value Chain that Caribbean Export has launched as part of the actions it is implementing under the Trade and Private Sector Support Component of the Binational Cooperation Program between Haiti and the Dominican Republic

This initiative is part of the actions of the broader strategy which aims to improve the binational private-private dialogue, as well as to improve the competitiveness of Haitian and Dominican companies with a view to consolidating and strengthening institutional cooperation between both countries.

The actions of this program benefit from the technical and financial support of the European Union through the eleventh European Development Fund.

Leo Naut, Deputy Executive Director of Caribbean Export, said, “The binational cocoa/chocolate value chain spans the entire spectrum of the industry, having renowned cocoa farmers, processors and chocolatiers among its beneficiaries.

At the Salon du Chocolat, Haitian and Dominican companies received a huge welcome from the public, and had the opportunity to establish links with possible business partners in the European Union and other potential markets.
