Haiti - Politic : The former PM Evans Paul banned from entering Dominican territory, victim of reprisals ?

Former Haitian Prime Minister Evans Paul (December 2014 - February 2016 under Martelly) on a radio station of the capital, described this week as arbitrary the decision of the Dominican Republic to include him on the list of 39 persons prohibited from entering the Dominican territory https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-39320-haiti-flash-39-haitians-banned-from-entering-the-dominican-republic-list.html , persons who constitute in the opinion of the competent authorities "any threat against the national security and the interests of the Dominican Republic."

Evans Paul suggested that this could be "reprisal" following the measures adopted under his government in September 2015, where he banned the entry into Haiti, by road, of 23 products of Dominican origin https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15156-haiti-notice-import-ban-by-road-of-certain-products-from-dr.html to facilitate the necessary quality control and protect the population on the health plan for food products but especially to collect customs taxes...

"I don't mind not being able to go to the Dominican Republic. I don't usually leave Haiti. I have no personal interest in a foreign country. I have no activity abroad. I have no assets there. It's not a personal issue, but I wonder what really motivated such a decision," said Evans Paul.
