Haiti - Economy : The Manufacture Hansae Haiti S.A signs a beneficial agreement with the Dominicans

The South Korean Textile Manufacture Hansae Haiti S.A in Haiti since 2016 operates 60 assembly lines in three factories with a production capacity of approximately 2 million garments per month. Among Korean apparel companies in Haiti, Hansae has the largest facility and employs over 3,000 and growing Haitian workers.

Hansae Haiti has created a localized supply stream for synthetic textiles for its manufacturing operations in Haiti by signing a strategic partnership with Dominican fabric manufacturer Willbes Dominica Synthetic Mill (36 years of existence). The MoU was signed on May 2nd, 2023 at Hansae Headquarters in Seoul, South Korea.

Note that Willbes produces synthetic fiber fabrics in the Dominican Republic and has production facilities for 30 tons of fabrics per day. The main objective of this partnership is to provide Hansae in Haiti with high quality synthetic fiber and to generate synergy by operating the production line flexibly and reacting quickly to customer needs.

Thanks to this agreement, the two companies anticipate a reduction in delivery times of 8 to 10 weeks compared to Asian supply and an average saving of 25 to 32% in customs costs thanks to the use of preference programs. Haitian Hemispheric Opportunity through Partnership Encouragement Act. (HOPE) and Haiti Economic Lift Program (HELP) Act., programs which were not applicable before this agreement, fabrics from Asia being excluded.

"It has become more important than ever to respond promptly to the rapid changes in the market and the corresponding needs of the buyers," said Daymond Ik Whan Kim, vice chairman of Hansae Fashion Worldwide, during the signing of the strategic partnership agreement. "This strategic partnership between the two manufacturers will greatly sustain improving the product quality through rapid market response as well as the establishment of a stable supply chain."
