Friday, May 19, 2023, a White House statement informs that President Joe Biden intends to nominate "career Foreign Service Officer Dennis Bruce Hankins (64) as a candidate for the post of U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Haiti,"

Note that Hankins is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, currently serving as Foreign Policy Advisor to the National Guard Bureau.

Hankins has a long international career (Vice-Consul, Consul, Head of Mission, Political and Economic Advisor...). He was previously Ambassador to Guinea (2015 under Obama) and Mali (2018 under Trump). Note that he was also Consul in Haiti in 1992.

He speaks English, French and Portuguese.
