Haiti - Religion: Mgr. Pierre-André Dumas calls for a Marshall Plan for Haiti

Given the escalation of violence in Haiti, Pope Francis asked in his message for the VII World Day of the Poor, greater involvement with the most needy

The escalation of insecurity, disease and violence is only growing in Haiti. In this context, the Bishop of Anse-à-Veau-Miragoâne, Pierre-André Dumas, in an interview on Vatican News, spoke of the daily commitment of the local Church "We cannot stay away from suffering of our people [...] we must work for the normalization of the country by implementing a real 'Marshall plan' for integral human development," adding "we must respect the rules of justice and Right wing state. The international community should become more involved in this area. »

Concluding "We thank the Pope because this message has become a guiding text for our pastoral care which must, more and more, be able to help the poor to take charge of their own lives."
