President Petro remembers the country of Haiti "[...] which was so close to us 200 years ago, when money was scarce, when its weapons helped Bolívar's army to conquer freedom and José Prudencio Padilla."

Petro assured that Colombia should work for the union between Colombia and Caribbean countries such as Haiti, Jamaica, Barbados, Bahamas, Trinidad Tobago, among others, to promote a development strategy for the Caribbean.
