Haiti - Insecurity : An American and her child kidnapped near Port-au-Prince

Saturday July 29, 2023 in a press release, the Christian humanitarian organization El Roi Haiti confirmed the kidnapping on its campus near Port-au-Prince, of the American nurse Alix Dorsainvil (31 years old, native of New Hampshire) and living in Haiti "We can confirm that Alix Dorsainvil, the wife of our Director Sandro Dorsainvil, and their child, were kidnapped on Thursday, July 27 in the morning at the NGO site near Port-au-Prince."

According to Jason Brown, President of El Roi Haiti "[...] Alix Dorsainvi, school and community nurse is known for her unwavering devotion to the suffering people, working tirelessly to relieve sick people in the name of Jesus [...] is a deeply loving and compassionate person who considers Haiti as her home and the Haitian people her family and friends [...]"

Asked by Agence France-Presse (AFP), the US State Department said it was "aware of the kidnapping of two American nationals in Haiti [...] We are in regular contact with the Haitian authorities and we continue to collaborate with them."
