Holness also noted that the Bahamas has pledged to provide 150 troops, bringing CARICOM's current commitment to 350 troops.

Holness expressed hope that more countries, whether in the Americas region, on the African continent or elsewhere, will also make personnel commitments and that the required UN Security Council resolution would be adopted in order to provide the appropriate jurisdictional framework for the deployment of these security forces.

On CARICOM, Holness said the "good offices" efforts currently being led by three former prime ministers of CARICOM member states must continue to be supported to facilitate political consensus in Haiti.
