Haiti - Economy : Michel Martelly, met Muhammad Yunus

The President Michel Martelly, was warmly welcomed, Thursday, October 13, 2011, the double Nobel of Bangladesh [Peace and economy], Muhammad Yunus, who is in his second visit to Haiti.

At a joint press briefing held at the National Palace, the Head of State stated that he was happy and proud to receive such an important figure that Mr. Yunus who co-chair the Presidential Investment Advisory Concil (PIAC), nitiated by the Presidency in order to attract foreign direct investors in the country.

The economist Muhammad Yunus founded officially the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh in 1977, which allowed nearly 300 million people worldwide to benefit directly or indirectly from micro-credits. The Head of State took advantage of his presence to ask about the concept of "social business", whose implementation, will allow to obtain in Haiti, concrete results for the improvement of living conditions of the Haitian people. The Presidency confirmed that approaches and working meetings with international partners, are continuing to this effect.
