CCCAN : Swimming : 4 medals for Haiti

At the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Federation (CCCAN) tournament (August 14 to 19, 2023), Haiti won 4 medals, Alexandre Grand'Pierre a gold medal in the 100m breaststroke (time 1:03:65 ); Christian Jérôme a gold medal in the 50m Fly (time 26:30); Raphaël Grand’Pierre, a silver medal in the 100m freestyle (time 52:53 national record) and Christian Jérôme a bronze medal in the 100m freestyle (time 54:11).

Lynching at Grand Vincent

Friday, August 18 in the morning, the inhabitants of Grand Vincent (Commune of Roseaux, Dept. of Grand'Anse), lynched "Mérital" thus known and then burned his body, accused by public clamor of cattle theft.

350 people lynched:

"From April 24 until mid-August, more than 350 people were lynched in Haiti by the population and vigilante groups. Among those killed are 310 suspected gang members, 46 members of the public and a police officer.
