Haiti - Environment : Haiti participates in the 7th Assembly of the Global Environment Facility

Astrel Joseph, the Director General of the Ministry of the Environment of Haiti (MdE) participates from August 22 to 26, 2023, in the Seventh Assembly of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), in Vancouver, Canada.

The 2023 Assembly, co-hosted by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Government of Canada, will assess progress towards the 2030 goals to end pollution and nature loss, fight climate change and drive inclusive, locally-led conservation.

The event brings together government officials, business leaders, environmentalists, heads of international agencies and environmental conventions, youth groups and civil society representatives to discuss solutions for a healthy planet healthy people.

The Assembly is the governing body of the GEF, which includes representatives from all 185 member countries, and is responsible for reviewing and evaluating the general policies, operations and membership of the GEF. This year's Assembly has a packed agenda, including high-level roundtables, a civil society forum that took place on August 23, side events and opportunities to visit environmental activities near Vancouver .
