Haiti - Economy : Trade deficit of more than 1 billion dollars !

Imports represent nearly 70% of goods sold in Haiti. The main imported products are: manufactured items (31.9%), fossil fuels (18.7%), food products (16.3%) and machinery and materials for transport (8.7%). The United States is Haiti's main exporter with 29.5% of the total, followed by the Dominican Republic with 20.9% and China with 17.3%.

Haiti's trade with the United States showed a deficit of 358.2 million US dollars in 2022, since exports reached a value of 1 billion 044 million US dollars, while imports amounted to 1 billion 403 million US dollars.

Trade with the Dominican Republic showed a trade deficit in 2022 of 765.3 million US dollars. Haiti only exported US$4.46 million worth of goods…

Dominican imports mainly concern products such as cotton fabrics ($141.72 million), clothing ($96.11 million), wheat flour ($57.8 million) and cement. ($55.1 million) and certain food products such as vegetable oils ($52.6 million). Note that these imports have declined steadily over the past five years due to the socio-economic crisis and violence in Haiti.
