Haiti - Justice : The OPC at the bedside of young people from the juvenile re-education center in contravention with the law

The Citizen Protection Office (OPC) via its mediation and legal popularization office located in Delmas, in partnership with UNICEF and the Rotary club of Pétion-ville south, distributed kits to the Juvenile Reeducation Center in Contravention of the Law (CERMICOL).

This activity allowed the OPC to draw up an observation on the situation of minors in contravention of the law, 90 of whom are in prolonged pre-trial detention, having never had the chance to meet a judge to rule on their cases and only 1 of these young detainees was convicted…

The OPC delegation led by the Deputy Citizen Protector Me Amoce Auguste, took the opportunity to distribute kits to women prisoners, to the staff of the prison center and also to deliver a batch of materials to the management of CERMICOL thanks to financial support from UNICEF represented by Claude M. Das, expert in Protection of Children's Rights.

This day was rich in activities, including a psycho-therapy session to help 20 young people, led by Dr. Maurice Jacques, member of the Rotary club of Pétion-ville South, partner of the OPC and the final of the football tournament organized for the benefit of CERMICOL residents.
