Haiti - Ouanaminthe : The ONA Office attacked, ransacked, looted then burned

Monday January 29, 2024, the communal office of the National Old Age Insurance Office (ONA) of Ouanaminthe was violently attacked by armed individuals.

In a note, Marguerite Berte Marescot, Director General of ONA, strongly denounces the act of vandalism perpetrated against this municipal office.

The judicial authorities of this jurisdiction were requested to assess the extent of the damage. "It was noted that this office had been brutally attacked, ransacked, looted and then set on fire by heavily armed individuals who have not yet been identified."

"The violence constitutes serious violations of the rights of policyholders and pensioners who benefit from the services of this office who prepare and ensure their future and their old age. The General Directorate takes the opportunity to assure them that it will take all the urgent measures required by this situation for the immediate resumption of the institution's services.

Marguerite Berte Marescot, renews ONA’s commitment to working tirelessly to make it a solid and lasting institution."
