Haiti - Social : The Consulate General of Haiti in Chicago invites to commemorate the Battle of Vertière

"The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago has the duty to remind to the entire community, that this Friday, November 18, 2011 brings the 208th anniversary of the Battle of Vertières, the one that did honor to the black race as a whole."

The Consular Mission also indicates that "as part of its commitment to accompany all Haitian community organizations in their approach, that it partners to the Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti and other local organizations to celebrate on Friday, November 18, 2011 this important date in the history of our country.

This event will be held from 7:00 pm at the Levy Center located at 300 Dodge Avenue, Evanston, Illinois. On the program: several speakers, patriotic songs, poems, music. Snacks and refreshments will be offered.

Also to mark this important date, the Mission will address on Sunday, 20 November on the 1590AM and 1590haiti.com from 6:00 to 8:00 pm a topic entitled : The Haitian victory to the Battle of Vertières, a turning point in the history of humanity."

"While wishing the customary participation of the community, the Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago reiterates to the great Haitian family from the Midwest its gratitude and invariable attachment" concludes the statement signed by the Consul General Lesly Condé.
