Haiti - Health : Sophia Martelly for a better support for disabled

Sophia Martelly, the First Lady of the Republic of Haiti, spoke in favor of a better support for disabled people in Haiti, during a visit this Wednesday, to the project Zanmi Beni of Zanmi Lasante, located in Santo 18, in the town of Croix-des-Bouquets.

This meeting of Ms. Martelly withe the responsibles of Zanmi Lasante, conducted in preparation for the International Day of Disabled Persons on December 3, comes strengthen an organization whose mission is to create an environment that promotes the integral development of children. A project that demonstrates the urgent need for a lifelong commitment in favor of children with disabilities.

Accompanied by Mr. Francois Lafaille Richel, Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, the First Lady of the Republic visited all the administrative building as well as playrooms, of physiotherapy, cafeteria, dormitory (30 bedrooms) and the Cultural Center RFK Learning, built with the help of the american Professor Richard lannuzzi and of New York State United Teachers.

She then met with staff and support team of Zanmi Béni. She took the opportunity to congratulate the responsibles of Zanmi Lasante and their partners for the accomplishment of this generously work.

The First Lady of the Republic of Haiti, Ms. Sophia Martelly opts for the construction of more childcare center for the benefit of needy children of Haiti and a stronger support of the state vis-à-vis the disabled. She also wants that the access to public spaces be facilitated to them so that they can fully enjoy of their rights.
