Haiti - Mechanization : Taiwan partners with Haitian farmers

To improve efficiency and secure food supply, the Taiwan Technical Mission (Republic of China) of the International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF) is working with Haitian farmers, promoting mechanization to facilitate farming and food processing.

In the Grison-Garde region (North Dept.) the Taiwan Technical Mission (TTM) introduced power tillers and trained operators, enabling the local farmers’ organization to provide ploughing services on 35 hectares per season.

This initiative by Taiwan has significantly improved the efficiency of land preparation and rice production in Haiti.

TTM also introduced rice winnowing machines (up to 500 kg per hour) and rice mills (processing capacity of 400 kg per hour). This equipment allows Haitian farmers to process their crops locally, reducing time and financial costs while increasing productivity.

These efforts not only strengthen Haiti’s rice industry, but also illustrate the Taiwan Technical Mission’s commitment to modernizing agriculture in Haiti by helping farmers achieve greater success and bringing Haiti a brighter future.
