Haiti - Education : A group of Haitian students and teachers soon in Cuba

The Communication Unit of the State University of Haiti (UEH) informs that a group of UEH students and their professors, most of them members of the Laboratory LAngages, DIScours, REPrésentations (LADIREP), will travel to Havana (Cuba) from November 4 to 8, 2024 as part of an international intensive course organized by the research program "CUBAYITI" in the premises of the Alliance française de la Havane.

It should be noted that the intensive course is part of the CUBAYITI research program, "National Constructions and Anthropology (from Cuba and Haiti)", which brings together Haitian researchers from the LADIREP laboratory, Cuban researchers from the "Instituto Cubano de Antropología" and the "Instituto Cubano de Investigación Cultural Juan Marinello", as well as French researchers from the Migrations and Societies Research Unit (URMIS), IRD / CNRS / Université Paris Cité / Université Côte d’azur).

Students of the Haitian delegation :

Dahana DERVIL (Faculty of Ethnology);

Shelton SAINTYL (École Normale Supérieure);

Islande SAINT-PHILIPPE (École Normale Supérieure);

James ORIENTUS (Institute of African Studies and Research).

They will all have the opportunity to present their research projects.

Organized on the theme "National identities and endogenous alterities: an approach based on the epistemologies of the "Souths", this course will bring together students and professors from all over the world.

During their stay, participants will take part in conferences, practical workshops, group work with supervisors, etc.

It should be noted that the intensive course is part of the CUBAYITI research program, "National Constructions and Anthropology (from Cuba and Haiti)", which brings together Haitian researchers from the LADIREP laboratory, Cuban researchers from the "Instituto Cubano de Antropología" and the "Instituto Cubano de Investigación Cultural Juan Marinello", as well as French researchers from the Migrations and Societies Research Unit (URMIS), IRD / CNRS / Université Paris Cité / Université Côte d'azur).

The professors who will be traveling will take the opportunity to present and discuss with their Cuban and French counterparts on the progress of their respective axes of the joint research project.
