Haiti - Caracol : The only region in Haiti with reliable electricity 24/7

NRECA / PPSELD has been providing 24-hour electricity service for over 10 years. After a long period of rationing https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37704-haiti-crisis-the-lack-of-fuel-threatens-all-jobs-in-the-caracol-industrial-park.html , announces that the restoration of 24-hour electricity service has been effective since November 9, 2024.

Let's recall that in June 2014, NRECA International completed the Caracol Community Electrification Program (CCEP) in northern Haiti with funding from USAID. CCEP has developed a distribution system to market electricity from the Caracol Industrial Park power plant to the city of Caracol and neighboring communities surrounding the industrial park, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

NRECA International operates the 10 MW diesel-HFO power plant located in the Caracol Industrial Park as part of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Sustainable Electricity Distribution Pilot Project (PPSELD). Electric service distribution has been expanded to four additional cities : Terrier Rouge, Limonade, Trou Du Nord, and Sainte Suzanne. PPSELD now serves nearly 12,000 users and could expand to serve additional communities in the future.

PPSELD is currently the only utility in Haiti providing reliable 24-hour, 7-day-a-week electric service.
