Haiti - Health : Message from the First Lady of the Republic of Haiti

Ms. Sophia Martelly, the First Lady of the Republic of Haiti, has a special thought, on the occasion of World Day of the fight against AIDS, celebrated this 1st December 2011 under the theme "Zero Target", to all Haitians living with today HIV and asked them not to give up. To those who are not infected, Ms. Martelly calls them for caution and prevention.

On this occasion, several activities are organized in the metropolitan area to educate the public on precautions to take to prevent this epidemic. The First Lady of the Republic salutes the courage and contributions of national and international organizations involved in the eradication of this scourge.

he First Lady, who is committed to the head of the Multisectoral Coordination Committe of projects of Global Fund in Haiti (CCM-Haiti) to fight against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, is determined to become more involved in this struggle.

Recognizing the level of vulnerability of the Haitian population, Sophia Martelly will take all necessary measures, alongside the President of the Republic, to reduce significantly over the five-year the number of deaths from the disease in Haiti. She therefore calls for the collaboration of all sectors of the national life.
