Haiti - Tourism : Towards the transformation of visitor reception in Haiti

As part of its efforts to improve the tourism offering and modernize visitor reception, the Ministry of Tourism organized this week a major visit to the premises of Toussaint Louverture International Airport, followed by a meeting with the General Management of the National Airport Authority (AAN). This initiative underlines the central role of the Ministry in coordinating multi-sector actors in order to position Haiti as a more competitive destination.

Discussions focused on :

• The redevelopment of the Ministry’s reception kiosk as well as other repair and improvement work at the Port-au-Prince airport in anticipation of the resumption of all scheduled flights;

• The ongoing development of VIP areas at the Guy Malary terminal and the Cap-Haitien airport;

• Studying the opportunity to formulate a project to build a new international airport in the North on a more suitable site, ensuring that these infrastructures meet standards adapted to tourism development to accommodate international connections and offer facilities that meet the expectations of travelers and investors;

• Strengthening joint leadership around the project to internalize the Cayes airport;

• Setting up mechanisms for the active promotion of tourist sites and Haitian heritage through captivating audiovisual content broadcast in airports.
