According to a report by the Dirección General De Aduanas Dominican Customs Directorate, during the year 2024, the Dominican Republic exported goods to Haiti for a value of 896.1 million US dollars, an amount that exceeds by only 23 million (2.6%) the 873.1 million US dollars exported in 2023.

According to the report, 601.1 million dollars correspond to the export of national products, or 67%, while the remaining 294.9 million dollars are raw materials destined for the free zones in Haiti.

The importance of Haiti as an export destination is that it represents a trade balance almost entirely in favor of the Dominican Republic. The figures indicate that local exports to Haiti represent 98.5% and only 1.5% correspond to imports of products from Haiti.

In addition, the Dominican Republic benefits from lax customs regulations on products entering Haiti due to the weakness of Haitian institutions and benefits from growing needs in a context of insecurity and slower and more uncertain international supplies (security).
