Haiti - Taiwan training : Fruit and vegetable growing techniques

The Taiwan Technical Mission (TTM) in Haiti is currently collaborating with local universities to strengthen agricultural education in Haiti.

At the invitation of the Southern Departmental Directorate of Agriculture (DDAS), the TTM recently organized conferences on fruit and vegetable growing techniques at the American University of Modern Sciences of Haiti (UNASMOH) and the Polyvalent University of Haiti (UPH).

Building on the success of the Fruit and Vegetable Cultivation Development Project in Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44754-haiti-taiwan-strengthening-the-capacities-of-haitian-farmers-through-training.html , recognized by local farmers, these conferences provide informative and stimulating agricultural knowledge to students in the agronomy faculties of these schools.

In Haiti, agricultural development relies heavily on local practices and the dedication of qualified professionals. With higher education resources still limited in Haiti, the mission of these agricultural students is all the more important. They are the future agricultural experts, responsible for providing technical guidance to farmers and promoting agricultural knowledge. These students represent the essential "seeds" for the foundation of the Haitian agricultural production system.

These training programs help strengthen their practical skills and allow them to gradually pass on their agricultural knowledge, applying professional techniques to each field and to each farmer. The more solid their training, the more farmers will benefit in the future, creating a positive ripple effect throughout the Haitian horticultural sector. They are a true source of knowledge for the younger generation of Haitians : their development represents hope for the future of Haitian agriculture.
