Haiti - Humanitarian : Taiwan donates 1,350 tons of rice

Taiwan (Republic of China) made a new gesture of solidarity with the Haitian people by officially donating 1,350 tons of rice to the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) this week.

The ceremony took place at the Citizen Protection Office, in the presence of Taiwanese Ambassador Cheng-hao Hu and Serge Gabriel Colin, Director General of the FAES.

This donation is intended to support families living in extremely precarious conditions throughout the country. It strengthens the humanitarian efforts carried out by the FAES in a particularly difficult socio-economic context.

In his speech, Serge Gabriel Colin warmly thanked the Taiwanese government for its support. He emphasized that this delivery of rice will help strengthen food assistance operations, particularly in communities most affected by insecurity, poverty, and instability. "This donation comes at the right time. It will allow us to alleviate the suffering of many families living in extremely difficult conditions."

For his part, Ambassador Cheng-hao Hu reaffirmed Taiwan's commitment to supporting Haiti in its social recovery efforts. He praised the exemplary cooperation between the two countries, based on shared values of solidarity, mutual respect, and humanity. "Taiwan remains at the side of the Haitian people. This donation of rice is not just food aid, but a powerful symbol of our lasting friendship. This collaboration is of profound benefit to the Haitian people, and particularly to those most in need. I would like to commend the commitment and determination of the FAES leadership team, whose hard work ensures this aid reaches those who need it most."
