NOTICE : Schengen visa and access to the Dominican Republic

The Consulate of Haiti in Dajabón informs that Haitian nationals with a single-entry Schengen transit visa are not authorized to enter the Dominican Republic. To transit through the Dominican Republic, a safe-conduct pass, a multiple-entry Schengen visa, or a valid visa from the United States or Canada is required. This measure is issued by the Dominican immigration authorities. The Consulate recommends that travelers carefully check their documents before proceeding to the border.

Monaco : Writer Dalembert awarded

On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Haitian writer Louis-Philippe Dalembert won the Prince Pierre of Monaco Foundation Literary Prize for his entire body of work. He succeeds French writer Mathieu Belezi. Dalembert received this award in the presence of jury member Dany Laferrière.

Rabies : Several deaths in Lanzac

At least five people died in September 2025 in the town of Lanzac (commune of Montrouis) after being bitten by stray dogs carrying rabies.

Cap-Haitien/Taiwan Cooperation

On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Transition Advisor Emmanuel Vertilaire, accompanied by members of his Cabinet, met with Cheng-Hao Hu, Ambassador of Taiwan (Republic of China). Discussions focused on the possibility of financing a sanitation project for the city of Cap-Haitien. The responses received during this meeting were deemed favorable to the implementation of this project. The municipal authorities of Cap-Haïtien will soon be contacted to begin the coordination phase. Technical and administrative support required for the project's implementation.
