Haiti - Health : Inauguration of the AMHE-GRAHN-Monde Community Health Center in Milot 23/10/2025 10:21:23
A significant milestone has been reached in the field of community health in Haiti. The Reflection and Action Group for a New Haiti (GRAHN-Monde) has inaugurated the AMHE-GRAHN Community Health Center in the locality of Génipailler, in the commune of Milot, in the north of the country. This project was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Haitian Medical Association Abroad (AMHE) USA-Canada, the Rally of Haitian Nurses and Auxiliary Nurses of Haitian Origin of Quebec (RIIAOHQ), and hundreds of donors from several countries. During the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Samuel Pierre, Co-founder and President of GRAHN-Monde, stated "The AMHE-GRAHN Community Health Center is a Center of Excellence whose mission is to provide healthcare that meets the priority needs of the population of Génipailler and the surrounding area [..]" The AMHE-GRAHN Center stands out for its comprehensive, community-based approach. It is the first regional facility designed to meet the needs of a previously underserved population by offering a full range of accessible and tailored healthcare services. The priority services offered include : • Primary healthcare • Mental health • Screening and treatment of infectious diseases • Comprehensive care for sickle cell disease • Eye care • Cardiovascular diseases • Maternal and child care, with a particular emphasis on prevention In addition to providing healthcare, the project focuses on health education for the population to encourage better lifestyle habits and regular access to medical services. At a reasonable cost, the center will offer essential services previously unavailable in the region, helping to reduce preventable mortality due to lack of healthcare. The inauguration of the AMHE-GRAHN Community Health Center marks a significant step forward for the commune of Milot and the entire northern region. At a time when Haiti is facing a multidimensional crisis, this initiative underscores the importance of solidarity from the diaspora, local organizations, and healthcare professionals committed to rebuilding the country.
