Haiti - Politic : Laurent Saint-Cyr in Doha, Qatar

On Friday, October 31, 2025, Laurent Saint-Cyr, President pro tempore and Coordinator of the Transition Council, left Haiti for Doha, Qatar, where he will participate in the Second World Summit on Social Development.

This trip, which comes amidst a severe humanitarian crisis in Haiti that threatens to worsen with Hurricane Melissa, is neither symbolic nor insignificant. It is a responsible step aimed at strengthening international support for Haiti. "We will continue our work on the ground, alongside our diplomatic efforts, to ensure that resolving the Haitian crisis remains a top priority among all major global emergencies."

This summit will bring together heads of State and government, leaders of international organizations, and representatives of the private sector. It will offer Haiti an international platform to forge concrete partnerships, obtain additional financial and technical support to address the humanitarian crisis, strengthen security, and create the conditions necessary for holding free and credible elections in the near future.

During his stay in Doha, Laurent Saint-Cyr will continue discussions with Qatari authorities, initiated during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, to mobilize the resources and partnerships needed to alleviate the suffering of the Haitian people.

Meanwhile, the CPT and the Government remain mobilized throughout Haiti to coordinate relief and assistance, ensure care for the most affected populations, and provide local authorities with the resources necessary to address the consequences of Hurricane Melissa.
