The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago presents its compliments to the entire Haitian community and send to it its best wishes of Merry Christmas 2011 and Happy New Year 2012. It took the opportunity to remind to the compatriots of Chicago and throughout the Midwest, as well as friends of Haiti that the January 1-2, 2012 respectively bring the 208th anniversary of our Independence and the Ancestors'Day.

On this occasion, the Haitian Catholic Mission of the Archdiocese of Chicago invites the brothers and sisters of the community to a Mass of thanksgiving to be celebrated this Sunday, January 1st at 5:30 pm at the Church of Our Lady of Peace located at 7851 South Jeffery, Chicago. After the religious ceremony a reception will be offered in the basement of the church. This invitation extends to people of all religious denominations.

On Sunday, January 8, the "Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti" , "Midwest Association of Haitian American Women (MAHAW)", the Consular Mission and key local organizations, invite all the compatriots to a large community gathering to be held from 4pm to 8pm at the Levy Center located at 300 Dodge Ave, Evanston. On the program: several speakers, songs, poems, music etc... The traditional giraumon soup will be served and a souvenir of our beloved Haiti will be given to all those present. We will take advantage of this opportunity to honor the victims of the earthquake of 2010 and honor the memory of Sonia Pierre while remembering her work.
