Haiti - FLASH : Royal Caribbean will not call at Haiti in 2026

Royal Caribbean International ships, the only cruise line serving Haiti, will not call at Labadee, the company's private destination, until at least the end of 2026.

"Out of an abundance of caution,we have extended our pause to Labadee through December 2026," Royal Caribbean Group, its parent company, said in a statement. The company had already suspended its calls to Haiti until April 2026 due to the ongoing violence. https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-45722-icihaiti-labadee-haiti-deprived-of-cruise-passengers-until-april-2026.html

The company's last call at Labadee was in the first quarter of 2025, following a suspension of visits the previous year. Royal Caribbean ships have not called at Labadee as part of a scheduled itinerary since April 2025. The cruise line had also suspended its visits to the island in 2024.

Last fall, Royal Caribbean announced its intention to suspend its cruises to Haiti until the end of April 2026. Today’s announcement significantly extends this period. This decision comes as Haiti is classified as a red zone (level 4) by the U.S. State Department, a "Level 4 Do Not Travel" destination, due to kidnappings, crime, civil unrest, and limited access to healthcare.

The cruise line previously explained that its decision not to call at Labadee was aimed at ensuring the well-being of passengers and crew, according to the Royal Caribbean blog.

The leased land around Labadee allows Royal Caribbean passengers to enjoy a multitude of activities on five private beaches nestled between the sea and the mountains. It also features an 800-meter zipline, water slides, jet skis, private cabanas, and much more. The resort has its own private security team.

The cruise line has provided travel agencies with a list of alternative ports of call to Labadee. These options include Nassau (Bahamas), Grand Turk (Turks and Caicos Islands), and Cozumel (Mexico).
