Haiti - Economy : Customs strengthens its mission of protection and mobilization of tax revenues (video)

On January 13, 2026, as part of the 32nd edition of Tuesdays of the Nation, Gérald Remplais, the Director General of the General Customs Administration (AGD), spoke on the involvement of Customs in the fight against insecurity, the evolution of customs revenues, the new measures implemented, as well as on the prospects and future directions of the institution.

In his speech, Remplais insisted on the fiscal and protection mission, emphasizing the strengthening of customs controls to effectively combat the trafficking of drugs, weapons, counterfeit medicines and illicit goods.

According to him, the actions of the AGD are fully in line with the theme of the year 2026 chosen by the World Customs Organization (WCO), centered on customs which protects society through its vigilance and commitment.

Thanks to the measures implemented, the AGD recorded record customs revenues during the first three months of the 2025-2026 fiscal year:

October : 11.2 billion (11,240,901,310.66 billion)

November : 10.5 billion (10,584,112,839.44 billion)

December : 13.2 billion (13,260,397,429 billion)

For the year 2026, as part of its modernization, the AGD is setting up an automated messaging system via the customs system, allowing users to estimate in advance the amount to pay for customs clearance of goods. The institution also plans the upcoming facilitation of online payment, as well as the optimization of workspaces throughout the territory, particularly at the Cap-Haitien customs.
