Haiti - Insecurity : The reconquest of territories has begun

Faced with the criminal insecurity that threatens national stability, Laurent Saint Cyr, the interim President and coordinator of the Transitional Council (CPT), accompanied by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and the Minister of Justice and Security, met with Vladimir Paraison, the acting Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH), and members of the High Command at the West 1 Departmental Directorate (DDO-1).

This visit was part of the direct supervision of ongoing operations and the strengthening of the mobilization of security forces engaged in the fight against armed gangs and terrorism.

André Jonas Vladimir Paraison presented an overview of the security situation and outlined the deployment procedures for the new police officers recently graduated from the P4000 program (https://www.haitilibre.com/article-46699-haiti-securite-ceremonie-de-graduation-de-877-nouveaux-policiers.htmlhttps://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-46699-haiti-security-graduation-ceremony-for-877-new-police-officers.html), who are tasked with reinforcing security measures in several departments.

Discussions focused on strengthening operations, the country's security situation, and the need to clear national highways occupied by armed gangs to facilitate the free movement of people and goods.

Over the past 24 hours, they have reported intensive police operations conducted in several strategic areas of the West Department, notably in Bel-Air and Delmas 4. These operations are part of an ongoing offensive strategy by the Haitian National Police (PNH), supported by the Gang Supression Force (GSF), aimed at dismantling criminal networks, regaining control of the territory, and restoring lasting public order.

The State sends an unequivocal message to the Haitian people : "[...] the Republic is holding firm. The security forces are on the offensive, the results are gradual but tangible, and the authorities’ determination remains absolute. The State will not back down. The rule of law will be restored."

Following this meeting, the authorities reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the police force and implementing urgent measures to sustainably restore security and create the necessary conditions for holding free, inclusive, and credible elections in 2026.
