GSF : The first contingent will be Chadian

The first contingent of the Gang Supression Force (FRG), scheduled to be deployed to Haiti on April 1st, will be composed of Chadian troops and is currently being trained in the United States to strengthen its military capabilities, Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez announced after a briefing on the FRG deployment with the US ambassadors to Haiti and the Dominican Republic. “The deployment will begin on April 1st, and the full FRG deployment will reach 5,500 troops by October 2026,” Álvarez confirmed.

TPS : Supreme Court Agrees to Hear Trump Appeal

On Monday, March 16, 2026, the United States Supreme Court confirmed that it would review the legality of the Trump administration's decision to revoke Temporary Protected Status (TPS) granted to more than 350,000 Haitians and approximately 6,100 Syrians residing in the United States. For now, the two court orders blocking the Trump administration's decision to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian and Syrian nationals remain in effect pending the decisions of the legal appeals. The cases will be argued in April 2026. PHTK is not registered with the CEP

The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) confirms the absence of the Tèt Kale Party (PHTK) from the list of registered parties. To date, neither the PHTK nor the CEP has provided an official explanation for this absence.

Several Haitian Ambassadors Recalled to Haiti

Several Haitian ambassadors have been recalled to Haiti for consultations. This includes the Haitian ambassador to Washington, Lionel Delatour; the Haitian ambassador to France, Louino Volcy; the Haitian ambassador to Ottawa, Anthony Dessources; and the Permanent Representative of Haiti to the UN, Pierre Erick Pierre. Other heads of mission are expected to receive their letters this week.

Two DCPR Bans

The Central Directorate of Traffic Police (DCPR) has banned three-wheeled motorcycles from major roads, including the Delmas Highway, John Brown Avenue, and Route des Frères. The DCPR has also banned the use of propane gas as fuel in vehicles.

Tourism : Minister Assesses the Condition of Premises

On Monday, March 16, 2026, Stéphanie Smith, Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries, conducted an assessment visit to the premises of the Ministry of Tourism and the Haitian Tourist Police, located in Champ-de-Mars. This initiative reflects the Minister's commitment to conducting a technical evaluation of the infrastructure to identify the necessary measures for its rehabilitation and restoration to operational status, in accordance with required administrative and operational standards.
