2 rapists arrested

Following a surveillance operation, agents of the Haitian National Police (PNH) from the Delmas Police Station arrested two individuals Jacques Denis Laroche, (40 years old) and Octavius John Kervens, (30), involved in a case of kidnapping, sequestration, rape and criminal association, to the detriment of a 17-year-old minor.

Deadline for Brazil VISAS

The Visa Application Reception Center for Brazil (CAVB), managed by IOM in Haiti, informs the public that delays are currently observed in the processing of visa applications (printed or electronic). The processing time and decision relating to the files fall under the jurisdiction of the Brazilian authorities. Upon receipt of the processed files, the center will contact the people concerned.

The Consulate General of Haiti in Montreal informs the Haitian community that an office of the National Identification Office (ONI) has been open on its premises since March 1st, 2026. Haiti new member of IMSO

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs the public of Haiti's official membership in the International Mobile Satellite Telecommunications Organization (IMSO), following the request presented on December 12, 2024. This membership represents a significant step forward for the modernization of the national maritime transport sector. Thanks to IMSO, the Maritime and Navigation Service of Haiti (SEMANAH) now benefits from satellite monitoring of ships. IMSO satellite technologies will also allow SEMANAH to significantly improve its real-time intervention capacity for rescue and search at sea in the event of ships in distress.

Annual inflation at 25% (declining)

According to the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) during the period from October to December 2025, annual inflation in Haiti slowed to 25%, compared to 31.9% in September 2025. This development takes place in a context marked, among other things, by the relative stability of the exchange rate, the increase in private transfers and the fall in the prices of certain basic products on the international market.
