In Haiti inflation continues to decline (BRH) 25/03/2026 09:29:40
On an annual basis, the growth of the local product price index slowed in January 2026, falling from 27.3% in December 2025 to 25.5% in January 2026. As for the CPI for imported products, its rate declined by one percentage point month-on-month to 20.5%. Analyzed by geographic distribution, monthly inflation remained broadly unchanged in almost all regions : "West Rest" (1%), "South" (0.9%), and "Cross-Section" (0.7%) in January 2026. However, it increased by 0.1 percentage point in the "Metropolitan Area" to reach 1.1% in January 2026, while it decreased by 10 basis points to 0.7% in the "North". On an annual basis, inflationary pressures eased in all regions : "South" (22.8% compared to 24.5% the previous month), "West Rest" (24.4% compared to 26.0%), "Cross-Section" (23.6% compared to 25.0%), “Metropolitan Area” (24.4% compared to 25.7%), and "North* (21.1% compared to 22.4%). Projections made by the Directorate of Currency and Economic Analysis suggest a continuation of the disinflationary process on an annual basis over the next three months. The year-on-year inflation rate is expected to reach 23% in February 2026, before gradually slowing to 22.9% and 22.3% in March and April 2026, respectively. However, on a monthly basis, these forecasts are expected to rise by 1.6%. Inflation was 2.1% and 2.5% respectively during the months of February, March, and April 2026.
