US Embassy : Security Cooperation On Thursday, April 2nd, 2026, as part of discussions aimed at strengthening security cooperation, Mario Andrésol, the Minister of Defense, met with the US military attaché, who was accompanied by Lieutenant Colonels Jay Richardson and Hans Carnice. Strengthening of BAFE Investigators In Port-au-Prince, a 10-day training course for the Bureau of Financial and Economic Affairs (BAFE), conducted by three French experts from the Directorate of International Security Cooperation (DCIS), strengthened the investigators' capabilities, particularly in telephone data analysis. This was the culmination of a series of six training courses (since 2024), made possible by Canadian funding, which enabled the certification of 17 Judicial Police Officers. GSF : Limited Potential Support from the Dominican Republic Roberto Álvarez, the Dominican Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Atul Khare, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Operations, to discuss the deployment of the Gang Supression Force (GSF) in Haiti. The meeting focused on the potential support that could be provided from Dominican territory, including the transit of personnel and equipment, medical services, and the establishment of a support office for the United Nations Support Office in Haiti (BANUH). CEP : Successful Tablet Registration Simulation On Wednesday, April 1st, 2026, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) conducted a simulation of the voter registration process at the National High School in Pétion-ville. Two electoral registry agents, equipped with internet-connected tablets, successfully completed a registration test for several council members and volunteers in attendance. Abigail Alexandre's studies to be covered During the reception for Abigail Alexandre, winner of the 9th Eloquentia 2026 International Finals in Paris, Emmanuel Medard, the Minister of Culture, promised that the government would cover her university tuition fees up to the bachelor's degree level. Canadian Embassy Closed The Canadian Embassy in Haiti will be closed on April 3 and 6, 2026, for Good Friday and Easter Monday. Services will resume on Tuesday, April 7.
