Mission of the Prime Minister of Haiti to Rome and the Vatican

The Prime Minister's Office announces that Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé will undertake an official mission to Rome and the Holy See from May 8 to 11, 2026, leading a high-level government delegation.

This visit is part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations between Haiti, the Holy See, and its international partners, as well as the government's commitment to consolidating cooperation on humanitarian, social, and sustainable development issues.

The Vatican has confirmed that the Haitian Prime Minister will be received on May 9, 2026. The program primarily includes participation in a "spiritual mobilization" and a Mass for Peace in Haiti, organized at St. Peter's Basilica, following an invitation from Cardinal Pietro Parolin.

While the visit aims to strengthen diplomatic relations, the official statement does not explicitly confirm a private audience with Pope Francis, but it does confirm a meeting at the highest level of the Vatican hierarchy.

During his stay in Rome, the Prime Minister will hold high-level diplomatic meetings with representatives of international organizations. These discussions will focus on Haiti's national priorities, efforts to promote stability, and prospects for solidarity and partnership for the benefit of the Haitian people.

Through this visit, the Government reaffirms its commitment to pursuing an active diplomacy focused on dialogue, cooperation, and finding concrete solutions to the challenges facing the country.
