150 appointments to strengthen health institutions in Nippes, Haiti

The health system in the Nippes department has just reached a major milestone with the issuance of over 150 letters of appointment to healthcare professionals and support staff working in several health institutions across the department during April and early May.

Beyond the appointments already issued (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-47363-haiti-health-a-first-batch-of-about-one-hundred-nomination-letters-already-available.html), several other cases are still being processed at the central level. A second wave of distribution is already underway, and other professionals are expected to receive their appointment letters in the coming weeks.

Doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, administrative staff, support staff, security guards, and several other system managers have officially received their appointment letters as part of a large-scale operation led by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and in accordance with the vision of the Minister of Public Health.

This series of appointments represents a significant event for the department. Since 2017, the Nippes health system had seen virtually no new appointments of this magnitude. This situation had considerably weakened several health institutions that, for years, operated with volunteer staff, contract workers, or staff temporarily supported by partners.

With the expiration of several projects and programs, many healthcare professionals found themselves without administrative or salary stability, despite their unwavering commitment to serving the population.

Today, several long-standing cases have finally been resolved. Among the beneficiaries are professionals who had been waiting for their appointments for 10, 15, or even more than 20 years!

For many, this decision recognizes years of sacrifice, patience, and dedication to the public healthcare system.

Thanks to the monitoring, regularization, and transfer of files carried out at the departmental level, several institutions are now seeing their staff numbers significantly increased.

This is particularly true of Sainte-Thérèse Hospital in Miragoâne, where several pending cases have been resolved, allowing for the integration of new professionals into various departments. Healthcare facilities in Asile, Arnaud, Carrefour-Honoré, Grand-Boucan, Plaisance, Anse-à-Veau, and other institutions in the department are also benefiting from this reinforcement effort.

This extensive reshuffle of appointments affects several professional categories : specialized care, nursing, administration, laboratory work, logistics support, maintenance, and security.

Through this initiative, the authorities intend to sustainably strengthen the public health system, improve access to care, and offer higher-quality services to the population thanks to more stable and better-supervised human resources.
