Public Works and the World Bank are discussing road infrastructure in Haiti

As part of the government's infrastructure modernization efforts, Engineer Joseph Almathe Pierre Louis, Minister of Public Works, held a crucial working session in Cap-Haitien with Ms. Anne Lucie Lefèvre, World Bank Country Manager for Haiti, and her technical experts. This session served to consolidate the progress of the Resilient Corridors Project in Haiti (P504115), a large-scale initiative designed to sustainably transform mobility and accessibility throughout the country.

The central objective of this partnership is to increase the rural accessibility index, a top priority for opening up access to agricultural regions. The project's implementation is structured around a dual strategic approach. Firstly, a significant effort is being made to improve rural roads in the southern peninsula to facilitate the transport of goods to consumer centers. On the other hand, priority interventions target key infrastructure routes such as National Road 2 (RN2), National Road 6 (RN6), and Departmental Road 41 (RD41).

Driven by a vision of territorial equity, Minister Pierre Louis advocated for extending this program to the Northwest. This initiative specifically aims to break the isolation of the city of Port-de-Paix by providing it with infrastructure capable of withstanding climate hazards.

The delegation also addressed a crucial urban issue: the development of the Barrière Bouteille/Morne Rouge section. The technical study for this essential project should be completed within three months, marking the beginning of a significant improvement in traffic flow at the entrance to the historic city of Cap-Haitien.

This strengthened collaboration between the Haitian government and the World Bank, whose vision was praised by Ms. Anne Lucie Lefèvre, marks a decisive step toward sustainable development supported by modern infrastructure.

Beyond routine interventions, the Minister strongly advocated for the implementation of more transformative projects capable of sustainably transforming the country's connectivity.

While technical teams are now working on the feasibility studies for the requested new extensions, engineer Pierre Louis reaffirmed his commitment to building, in collaboration with international partners, a more resilient and secure road network that serves the entire population.
