Haiti - Launch of a national training program to strengthen electoral security…

Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé officially launched a comprehensive national training program to strengthen electoral security and ensure credible elections for various authorities within the judicial system and public forces.

Under the high patronage of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), this series of training sessions is part of the three-pronged mission defined by the Head of Government :

1 - To combat armed gangs and restore security throughout the national territory;

2 - To revive the economy;

3 - To organize fair, credible, inclusive, and equitable elections this year.

The first phase of this initiative is aimed at Government Commissioners, Justices of the Peace, and members of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H) and the Haitian National Police (PNH).

For this initial phase, the municipalities of Port-au-Prince, Petit-Goâve, and Croix-des-Bouquets were targeted, before a gradual rollout across all 146 municipalities in the country.

The government also announced an allocation of over 3 billion gourdes for financing political parties and coalitions.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Prime Minister Fils-Aimé firmly reaffirmed that the State will not back down and will not cede any portion of national territory to armed gangs.

He declared authoritatively : "We will fight money laundering. And we will not let dirty money find its way into the ballot boxes." To this end, a specialized judicial unit for financial crimes will be established to prevent and prosecute money laundering throughout the electoral process.

Paying a vibrant tribute to the bravery of the police and military deployed to regain full control of neighborhoods held hostage by armed groups, the Prime Minister urged them to pursue and punish, with the utmost rigor, any electoral violations.

"We are moving forward in close consultation with the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), civil society, and political parties," he reiterated, before addressing this solemn message to all stakeholders :

"You have only one leader : the Haitian people. It is to them alone that you owe loyalty, discipline, and impartiality."
