The Silent Metamorphosis of Haiti (report)

As Haiti grapples with one of the deepest crises in its recent history, a dynamic of transformation driven by its youth is quietly emerging across the country. This is the conclusion of the report "The Silent Metamorphosis : How Haitian Youth Are Reinventing a Nation's Future" officially launched on May 14, 2026, at Quisqueya University by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with Group Croissance and CEDEL Haiti.

Co-authored by Xavier Michon, UNDP Resident Representative in Haiti, and Kesner Pharel, economist and CEO of Group Croissance, the report highlights the economic, social, technological, and civic transformations being driven by Haitian youth, often far removed from the dominant narratives focused on crisis and vulnerability.

The question is not whether these young people are capable of transforming Haiti. They are already doing so. The question is whether Haitian decision-makers and their international partners will have the foresight to support this movement rather than continue to ignore it. This report proposes a three-stage roadmap: immediate actions (0-2 years), structural investments (2-5 years), and transformative ventures (5+ years), designed to function even in a degraded institutional environment.

Haiti’s silent metamorphosis is not a distant hope, but a tangible possibility that simply needs to be recognized, nurtured, and amplified.
