Publication of the electoral decree, date unknown

Jean Willio Patrick Chrispin, the Secretary of State for Communication, still cannot say when the draft electoral decree will be published in the official gazette "Le Moniteur". This delay will inevitably have consequences for the electoral calendar. Indeed, without the publication of the draft decree, the Provisional Electoral Council is unable to finalize the revision of the electoral calendar and set the new election date.

Digicel : Insecurity prevents repairs

Digicel informs the population of the Grand North region that "[...] the damage caused to the fiber optic infrastructure on National Road #1 has still not been resolved due to security issues. The outages are located between Saint-Marc and Gonaïves and have been blocked for several days, which is preventing our technicians from intervening at this time. We want to reassure the entire population that we are making every effort to find a quick and effective solution to carry out the repairs."

American Firm Visits Vertières Base

On Friday, May 15, 2026, representatives of an American private firm engaged in technical discussions regarding the evaluation of temporary infrastructure held a working session with Mario Andrésol, the Minister of Defense, before visiting Vertières Base to assess spaces intended to house tents to serve as mess halls, dormitories, and medical facilities, as well as other necessary temporary services, in anticipation of the mass training of new soldiers.

Diphtheria : National School-Based Vaccination Campaign

Faced with the resurgence of diphtheria in Haiti, with confirmed cases in all departments and several deaths since the beginning of 2026, the Ministry of Public Health is launching a national diphtheria vaccination campaign. This event will take place from May 19 to Sunday, May 24, 2026, and will target children aged 6 to 14 in all schools across the country.

Celebration of the Patron Saint of Lawyers and Judges

On May 19, 2026, judges, magistrates, and lawyers from the various Haitian bar associations celebrated the anniversary of the death of Yves Hélory de Kermartin. A 13th-century Breton priest and judge, renowned for dedicating his life to defending the poorest members of society free of charge, he was canonized as Saint Yves on May 19, the date of his death in 1303 in Brittany (France). In Haiti, this day holds particular significance, celebrating both the patron saint of lawyers and judges and giving rise to festivities in several parishes throughout the country.

Launch of the "Fanm Andikape, Poto Mitan Chanjman" Project:

On Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Montana Hotel, Pedrica Saint Jean, Minister for the Status of Women, participated in the official launch of the "Fanm Andikape, Poto Mitan Chanjman" project, led by the Union of Women with Reduced Mobility of Haiti (UFMORH). This project aims to improve the socio-economic recovery and political participation of women and young women with disabilities in Haiti, particularly in the West, North, and South departments, through support and empowerment initiatives.
