9kg Marijuana Seized in Pétion-ville Agents from the Bureau for Combating Drug Trafficking (BLTS) conducted an operation in the "Ghetto Jamaica" neighborhood of Pétion-ville. This operation allowed law enforcement to seize 9kg of marijuana and arrest two suspects, Maxi Delia and Piterson Nauzeard, who are currently in custody. PNH : 36th Graduation Class This Friday As part of the P4000+ program initiated by the Haitian National Police (PNH) with support from the United States (INL), Canada, and BINUH, which aims to strengthen the operational capacity of the police force by recruiting and training more than 4,000 officers to combat gangs and address the country's security challenges. This Friday, May 29, at 12:30 p.m., on the grounds of the National Police Academy (Route de Frères), 1,200 police officer candidates from the 36th graduating class, including 239 women, will officially receive their police diplomas. Meanwhile, the Haitian National Police (PNH) is continuing its recruitment process and has already passed several crucial stages in selecting candidates for the 37th graduating class. Robillard : New Sub-Station The Haitian National Police (PNH) officially inaugurated the Robillard sub-station in the Plaine-du-Nord commune. This new police station aims to strengthen security in the area. Police officers are already deployed to this new base to combat crime, protect the population, and continue the work of restoring security. UEH : First Conference of the Electoral Chair On Thursday, June 28, 2026, the Electoral Chair of the State University of Haiti (UEH), co-chaired by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), launched its first international conference on the theme "Ensuring Successful 2026 Elections in Haiti: Expectations and Opportunities". For three days, members of the CEP, university officials, UEH representatives, national and international partners, and electoral experts discussed the challenges related to democratic governance and strengthening the electoral process. The first day of discussions highlighted the importance of guaranteeing the trust of all stakeholders through increased transparency, strong citizen mobilization, and respect for the rules and rights of all in the electoral process. Strengthening the Haitian Education System On Thursday, May 28, 2026, Vijonet Déméro, the Minister of National Education, established three national commissions and a scientific committee to strengthen the Haitian education system: the National Curriculum Commission; the National Commission for Science, Technology, and Innovation; the National Commission for School and Vocational Guidance; and the Ethics Committee for Educational Research. The Minister also called upon Haitian professionals, both in Haiti and abroad, to contribute their expertise to education in the country. Ottawa : Raising of the Haitian Flag on Parliament Hill The Canada-Haiti Parliamentary Group (CHPG) commemorated the 223rd anniversary of the Haitian flag on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, with an official ceremony raising the Haitian bicolour on Parliament Hill. This initiative brought together several representatives of the Haitian community in Ottawa and surrounding areas, concluding a series of activities organized across Canada to celebrate Haitian Flag Day.
