Haiti - Football : Coach Migné clarifies his intentions regarding his future

French national team coach Sébastien Migné, still under contract with the Haitian Football Federation (FHF), has expressed his desire to continue leading the Haitian national team.

His tenure at the helm of the Grenadiers, which began in March 2024, culminated in qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This was only the second time the Caribbean nation had reached this global competition, its last appearance dating back to 1974.

Despite this historic qualification, the coach's future is under close scrutiny. Speculation intensified after the team's elimination in the group stage, following matches against very high-level opponents. Our Grenadiers, ranked 83rd in the world, had to face Scotland (42nd) [0-1], Brazil (6th) [0-3], and Morocco (7th) [2-4].

Speaking to the press, Migné clarified his intentions regarding his future. He stated that he remains fully committed to his professional obligations and intends to honor his current contract.

International football experts believe that keeping Migné would bring the team the stability it so desperately needs. The upcoming qualifying rounds for regional tournaments will require consistent leadership for the team to continue its progress.

The coach specified that any decision concerning his position ultimately rests with the FHF (Haitian Football Federation). He emphasized that his focus remains entirely on the team's development and consolidating his recent international experience.

The FHF has not yet made an official announcement regarding the Grenadiers' coaching staff. The federation should conduct a thorough analysis of the team's performance during the tournament before making a final decision. Migné remains ready to guide the team to the next stage of international football, but the final decision rests with his employers.

The French coach spoke of the immense resource gap he faces compared to the major footballing nations. He stated that his players had put their opponents under pressure, but mistakes at the highest level have immediate consequences.
