Haiti - FLASH : 670,500 Haitians expelled from the Dominican Republic in 20 months

The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) announced on Wednesday, July 1st, 2026, that 34,226 Haitian nationals residing irregularly in the Dominican Republic were repatriated to Haiti during June 2026.

According to data released by the DGM, Dominican authorities repatriated 196,321 Haitians in irregular situations during the first half of 2026. These operations were carried out with the support of the armed forces and other state security services, as part of the government's strengthened immigration policy.

The Directorate also indicated that since October 1, 2024, the date Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester assumed his duties as head of the agency, the cumulative number of deportations has reached 670,500 Haitians.

The DGM also specified that on Tuesday, June 30, 980 Haitians in an irregular immigration situation were apprehended, while 1,041 others were deported the same day.
