Haiti - Economy : The President Martelly to the 42nd World Economic Forum in Davos

The Haitian President Michel Martelly, left the country early this Wednesday, January 25, to Davos, Switzerland, to attend the 42nd World Economic Forum taking place around the theme : "The great transformation: Shaping new models." This forum will bring together this year more than 2,500 personalities including politicians, business representatives and NGOs.

On this occasion, the Head of State will participate in several working sessions, including the acceleration of growth in Haiti. It will be to explore the current situation and to examine how the international community can assist the country to make progress the strategies needed to achieve sustainable growth.

The President of the Republic will take the opportunity to continue to promote the country who is open for business. Exchanges between President Martelly and several participants in this summit is planned in the perspective of attracting foreign investment in Haiti.

After his participation in the Forum meeting in Davos, the President Martelly will visit Ireland as part of the "Haiti Week" which runs from January 21 to 28, an initiative of the NGO "Haven" which aims to demonstrate and strengthen the many links between the two peoples. This will be also the occasion to raise the necessary funds for the construction of 10,000 houses in 2014 in favor of the most vulnerable Haitian families.
