Haiti - FLASH : Review of Defense Minister Andrésol's first 100 days

The Ministry of Defense has published a report on the first 100 days of Minister Mario Andrésol's term, covering the period from March 4th to June 12, 2026.

Among the key achievements are the integration of 339 soldiers from the "Capois la Mort" class, a national recruitment campaign that garnered 17,722 applications, including 4,331 from women, and six assessment missions that led to the launch of significant rehabilitation work at the Vertières, Anacaona, and Clercine military bases to strengthen their capacity for training, accommodation, and operational readiness. The Ministry also continued finalizing the development of a new military doctrine and announced the organization, in August 2026, of a public forum on the vision and future of the Armed Forces of Haiti.

International cooperation also received renewed impetus through strengthened partnerships with France, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, the United States, and several other partner countries.

Furthermore, the steps taken have resulted in the awarding of six military training scholarships by Argentina: two for the Army, two for the Navy, and two for the Air Force. Meanwhile, 114 recruits, from the cohort of 665 new recruits recently integrated into the Vertières military base, will depart for training in Mexico on August 24, 2026, as part of bilateral military cooperation.

Finally, the document outlines the main priorities that will guide the continued implementation of the 2026-2027 Action Plan, including the modernization of military infrastructure, the finalization and implementation of military doctrine, the strengthening of international cooperation, the gradual integration of new recruits, and the consolidation of the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H).
